What are you waiting for? That’s the question we ask a lot in fundraising , and it’s the same question that changed the direction of one of our team’s careers.
This is Joey.

Where Joey Started
He started with us as a fundraising representative in our Cork office. Like many people who join fundraising, he didn’t have a long-term master plan. What he did have was a strong work ethic, curiosity, and a willingness to back himself.
That decision changed everything.
Where Joey Started
Joey’s early days were spent doing what every great leader in our business starts with — learning the role on the ground. Speaking to the public, handling rejection, building confidence, and showing up consistently.
Fundraising teaches you fast. It shows you who you are under pressure and what you’re capable of when you commit.

When His View of Success Changed
Over time, Joey realised something important. He wasn’t going to be knocking doors forever.Success stopped being about personal results and started being about growth — helping others succeed, training new people, and building a team. That shift from “doing” to “developing” is where fundraising turns from a job into a career.
Leadership wasn’t a title. It was action.
Joey didn’t wait to be asked. He proved himself by being reliable, consistent, and willing to take responsibility. He pushed himself to develop leadership skills, supported others, and earned trust by doing the work day in, day out.
Even when he didn’t have all the answers, he showed readiness. And that mattered more than perfection.

Joey’s journey is proof of something we believe strongly at Trinity:
You don’t need to have it all figured out
You don’t need experience in leadership to start
You just need to start
The best opportunities don’t wait for us — we move first.
You don’t have to be great at the start, but you do have to start to be great.
So… What Are You Waiting For?
If you’re thinking about a new career, more progression, or a role where effort actually leads somewhere — fundraising could be it.
Joey started in Cork. Now he’s leading teams and changing lives — including his own.
Stop waiting. Start winning.
Joey’s shared his story. Now we’d love to help you start yours.
